Well done you old bastards! Another album!
Another St. Anger? Thankfully and surprisingly not! I mean holy shit! They still have it in them! Now as you've read from the post below, my friend Sharan he doesn't think much of this album at all. But ignore him, he's a noob.
Now I have to admit, the first time I heard St. Anger I thought it pretty much sucked. It seemed like a garage band trying to sound heavy. I mean, come on, these guys made Master of Puppets, Ride the lightening, and Hit the lights! And then I turned on St. Anger and my expression was this -
ROFL it sounded like shit! I thought they'd run out of juice, 'gone are the days of Metallica' I said, but strangely enough, I gave the album another shot last night. Yes, last night...4th September 2008, and it clicked. Like a little screw falling into place, the album was alright, I even started moving my head to the music for a few songs!
Keeping this strange new development in mind, I gave Death Magnetic a shot...*EXPLOSION*
Damn, it's good. Some songs even remind me of their old albums. Though the guitars still sound different, in fact they sound like their previous album, the distortion sounds like something from a noob hardcore band. Sounds very amateur. Apart from that, kudos, the riffs are pretty Metallica. Hetfield's vocals are still killer, much better than St. Anger, he still sounds like Hetfield thankfully unlike the guitars.
Ulrich needs help. LOL if you take a look at the video St. Anger where they filmed at a penitentiary, you see two funny incidents. One is, you see these gigantic black dudes headbanging to the tune. Nuff sed there. LOL
Second is, half the time, Ulrich looks like he's shitting bricks trying to keep up with the fast tempo.
Still...this new album is pretty damn good, I've been a Metallica fan for as long as I can remember now, and I can safely say I still am. Good going chaps!

HOW did Metallica get so far with such a bad drummer? Cheers Maniac! Your first comment. I've kept it as diplomatic as I could.
He's not a bad drummer, he's just...err...old?
Dude, I fell in love with DM the third day after I first heard it. It sure took some time to sink in. I mean its not really easy listening, but to me its as thrashy as thrash metal can get. Maybe the album was more 'produced' than 'inspired'. But its hard work and good music all the same.
And yes, I like St.Anger as well.. when I do forget that its the same band that made RTL and MOP.. I like the album as a stand alone project.. its still way better than Linkin Park. All American Rejects and Lost Prophets if you know what I mean. Band name and genres are shit. In the end all that matters is whether the music speaks to you or not..
o btw Charlie sux... don't listen to him :P
'charlie'
whatever has that got to do with a nice iyengaaaaawr name like 'SHARANYAN'
hahahaa
It really isn't that great an album. There are a few fantastic moments though. Lars' snare is still popping rather than punching. Oh and I actually thought James Hetfield did a decent job on the vox. Kirk Hammett was sort of a mixed bag, too much of the whammy and nothing polished about his solos though the riffs in tracks like "That Was Just Your Life", "Suicide & Redemption" and the grooves in "Cyanide" were killer. Trujillo was sidelened and that's just sad. The production was bad.
Overall the album I thought was average, but it does grow on you after a few listens.
